On their last album, Bigfoot, Cayucas debuted in a way that defied their namesake, the sleepy seaside town of Cayucos, CA. As listeners fell in love with its shimmering west coast vibes, Zach Yudin watched his bedroom recording project transform into a band that toured the world almost overnight, all while his songs raced across the radio. But as Zach and his twin brother and bandmate, Ben, went in to create what would become their new album, what it all came back to was something more personal. While they now call Los Angeles home, they drew from the nostalgia of their childhood growing up in Davis, CA; the nostalgia in their music that is as much about a place they've never been (that maybe no one's been to) as any actual experience. It was a freedom to imagine, to explore ideas. And it was that wandering imagination and a punchy California dream that eventually grew to become Dancing at the Blue Lagoon.

VIDEO VIDEO // Cayucas Premiere “High School Lover” at SPIN, Announce Debut Album ‘BIGFOOT’ – Out April 30

Cayucas are coming at you with their awesome new video for “High School Lover,” starring lead singer Zach Yudin and his band: Ben Yudin on bass (twin brother to Zach), Banah Winn on keys and Casey Wojtalewicz on drums. Missing in the action is guitar player Christian Koons. Although the video isn’t a complete narrative, Director Cameron Dutra called on the song’s origin when putting it all together. He tells us “‘High School Lover’ is about a girl who would write Zach love letters, yet he would never respond despite actually liking her back. I tried to abstract the idea of a high school girl’s notebook with doodles and sketches into stop motion graphics and titles.” Watch above!

“High School Lover” is found on Cayucas’s debut album, Bigfoot – out officially on April 30! Check out the album artwork above and the tracklisting below! Bigfoot was produced by none other than Richard Swift (record at his studio too!).

2. High School Lover
