Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock the last couple of weeks, you should be well aware of the #LETBONNERSHOOT campaign (educate yourself) started by none other than our sweet angel of a friend/basketball connoisseur Dave Hartley. While you know him as the man behind Nightlands and bassist of The War On Drugs, we’ve come to understand Dave as the ultimate go-getter, trendsetter and social media king who refused to sleep until Matt Bonner received his rightful invitation to the NBA All-Star Weekend’s Foot Locker Three Point Shootout (now that’s a mouthful). By golly, we’re happy to report MATT BONNER IS IN FACT HEADED TO THE THREE-POINT SHOOTOUT. (this is the part where you start jumping up and down and screaming)
We would like to extend the biggest of congratulations to Dave, Matt and Luke Bonner and all others involved in this great Internet takeover! GOOD LUCK MATT. We are all rooting for you buddy.
Nightlands follows up release week by sharing the original, instrumental and vocal-only versions of “Nico,” a track off the recently released Oak Island. Premiering at ArtInfo, the song is one of the more experimental ventures off the record. You can stream all three versions above! While listening, head over to ArtInfo to read the new interview with the ever so eloquent Dave Hartley.
“I kept trying that until I could know exactly what speed to change the tape machine to, to make my voice warped. So when it sounds like I’m singing higher and higher and higher, the tape is slowing more and more. I got pretty experimental with the tape machine.” – Dave Hartley on “Nico”
