Today is a wonderful day! We’re incredibly happy to announce Tig Notaro will release her new album, LIVE, via Louis C.K.’s website on October 5. It’s the same day Tig will be interviewed by Ira Glass on This American Life. The interview will be accompanied by a 10 minute teaser of her Largo performance, which is the basis of the LIVE album and what Louis C.K. referred to as one of the most masterful performances he’s seen in his 27 working years.
As many of you are probably aware, Tig Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this summer. She announced the diagnosis at the beginning of her Largo stand-up routine and followed it by taking the audience through the many hardships she encountered during the four months prior to the show. Using a perfect approach of humor and fact, she created an emotional experience, with audience members sharing in tears and laughter the whole way through.
The set went viral after Kira Hesser of The Huffington Post covered the show and walla, Tig then went on to be featured in The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and more. Tig recently went on Conan, where she shared more on the year’s hardships and a prognosis we can all happily get behind. Watch the Conan appearance above.
After two appearances on Conan, Tig Notaro returns to After-Hours Stand-Up for an extended performance telling her now infamous tale about 90s pop performer Taylor Dayne. Watch the “brilliant set” above! The New York Times featured Tig earlier this week, saying “what distinguishes her comedy is how forcefully it turns inward, drawing attention to its form, testing its limits… her pleasingly strange concepts are executed with such conviction that they seem to develop an eccentric logic all their own.” Read the article HERE.
Want to help Tig with her new short-film? Head over to her Kickstarter! She’s raising funds to assist in the making of Clown Service, where “a heartbroken woman (Tig Notaro), desperate for a brighter mood, enlists the services of a traveling party clown.” Incentives include everything from a signed sticker from Tig’s podcast Professor Blastoff, to a private stand-up performance by Tig at your house (!!!!!!!!).
