SECRETLY CANADIAN releases 100th album and celebrates 11 year annniversary

Secretly Canadian’s 100th album, appropriately titled “SC100″, will be released April 24, 2007.

SC100 is a suspended-in-time, freeze-dried nugget of evolution from the humble beginnings everyone has. For those with a checklist of Hoosier Rock History, take note that SC is the first Indiana label to issue 100 titles. Daydreams are good when thinking of who came before — BRBQ, 700 West, Lamp, Solid Gold or Gulcher — and what they could’ve done if not for being corn-holed by that cruel economy of scales or by packing up and leaving the state for brighter times.

SC100 has been in the works for about three years and features 18 Secretly Canadian artists defiling each other’s songs. All artists who issued recordings from SC01 (June Panic, “Glory Hole”) to SC99 (Swearing at Motorists, “Last Night Becomes This Morning”) were up for inclusion to cover two songs by a label mate chosen via the ol’ names-in-a-hat method. SC100 is a two disc set, with the second disc’s worth of material being available only from your favorite digital download retailer.

But for now, you can check out the late Nikki Sudden doing his version of the June Panic song, “See(ing) Double” here

And Dave Fischoff covering Damien Jurado’s, “Abilene” here

And here is a special outtake that does not appear on the physical release nor on the digital copy of SC100. It’s Marmoset doing a tripped out version of Jens Lekman’s “Black Cab”:

This year also marks Secretly Canadian’s 11th year in existence, and in conjunction with that we have discounted 11 of our classic titles. Below are the titles that will be discounted from 4/12/07 until 05/08/07 only at your favorite local retaier.
