Earlier this month, The War on Drugs dropped by WXPN to do a live, Free at Noon performance broadcast to fans and listeners everywhere. What you might’ve missed, though, is that Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel also did a solo acoustic set for XPN’s local music site, The Key.

The session, which strips down “Brothers,” “Best Night,” and “Black Water Falls,” is a gorgeous, intimate reimagination of these songs, and proof that “solo acoustic” needn’t be a four letter word. Host John Vettese describes, “all due respect to bandmates and sonic co-conspirators Dave Hartley, Robbie Bennett, and Steven Urgo, you can knock the fancy autidory architecture away and the music holds up.”
