Love for Fragrant World
“But overall, Fragrant World is a sexy, infectious compilation of conventional musical tropes, filtered through Yeasayer’s dark kaleidoscope.” – Paste
The songs throughout Fragrant World are arrestingly forward-thinking without shying away from invoking music’s rich pageantry. – Under The Radar
“This is a record of adventure and texture, an attempt, musically, to conjure up a future we may never actually have. Maybe that is kind of nerdy, but Yeasayer carry it off with style to spare.” – Drowned In Sound

Yeasayer rework Gotye’s “Eyes Wide Open” for his upcoming remix EP. Listen exclusively at Rolling Stone.
“…it can be hard to tell where organic sounds end and electronic wizardry begins – a fitting mystery for a band so preoccupied with humanity’s ever-shifting place in the modern world. From the opening seconds of “Fingers Never Bleed” on, its worldview is fully realized, as a stormily off-kilter arrangement induces an immediate sense of woozy foreboding. Even singer Chris Keating doesn’t quite sound of this world: He might channel David Byrne here and there, but he elsewhere explores a mode of expression that can seem animalistic, even alien.” – Stephen Thompson, NPR
In his new video for “I Know What Love Isn’t,” Jens is placed in stark white room, happily strumming his guitar and singing along to his perfectly crafted pop melodies. BLK JKS on cover of Rolling Stone you say? Indeed they are! In an article titled BLK JKS: We’re Not Fucking Guns n’ Roses, OK? Notes from the Frontline of Rock’n Roll’s Last Frontier, writer Bongani Madondo brings to light the BLK JKS story. Interlaced with historic tellings of South Africa’s struggle, Madondo captures the rise of BLK JKS from their days as pre-teens to lives as rock musicians.
“In the limbo left by kwaito’s premature death, a band of four young bucks hardly out of puberty is fiddling with electric instruments. They have no inkling that they will one day stride indie rock’n'roll capitals as Africa’s belated answers to The Clash, The Smiths, The Cure or whoever. In no time, they will be proclaimed the “beautiful ones” that rock’n'roll has been waiting for since The Doors’ demise or since Tricky blessed the sinful earth with Maxinquaye. But I’m jumping the gun.”
