It feels funny to say that Strange Weekendis Porcelain Raft’s debut record because, in many ways it’s his 156th. Mauro Remiddi has lived three musician’s lives at this point. Wether it’s been traveling with the Berlin Youth Circus playing gypsy Klezmer music, a stint playing piano Off Broadway, or reinterpreting traditional music in North Korea — Remiddi has constantly been moving and recording. With Porcelain Raft, he’s finally found a constant. Big emotional music focused on tiny fleeting moments of the right now.
We’re excited to bring you Porcelain Raft’s proper debut, Strange Weekend, on January 24th, 2012. The band will be teaming with M83 on their European tour early next year. Click through for more info on Strange Weekend as well as the full schedule with M83.

A new Jens Lekman EP is on the horizon. It’s titled An Argument With Myself EP, is comprised of five songs, and will be released in the US and Europe on September 20th (September 19th in the UK).
Jens granted an exclusive interview about the EP to none other than the Walla Walla Washington Union Bulletin. The Discussion covers many topics including recent travels, the new music, and “making a feather out of a bird.” Jens calls the EP “a little taste of what’s not to come.” For further illumination on that sentiment and others, click through for the full text as well as tracklist and US tour dates.

Good One contains well crafted and ridiculous material touching on subjects such as Tig’s family tree, Mexican hotel door signs, birthing a dinosaur, and how 90s pop singer Taylor Dayne is the easiest person in the world to run into, amongst other things. A deluxe version of the album contains the long anticipated DVD of Have Tig At Your Party, the human equivalent to the “burning log” DVDs.

Cousins Reese Donohue and Christopher Prudhomme are the creative force behind Painted Palms — a duo in the studio that expands to a five-piece band for live shows. The two grew up together on the same block in Lafayette, Louisiana. After Donohue moved to the Bay Area in California for school, they spent several years exchanging music they had made by themselves — hypnotic sound experiments and song fragments. However, it wasn’t until they both returned home for the winter break in 2009, that they began playing music together.
Canopy is the debut EP from duo Painted Palms. With its echoes of Brill Building pop, buoyant electronics, and encompassing textural experimentation, the EP exudes something ebullient as well as meditative. Canopy is a modern psych-pop collage with an affinity for fluidity and the exotic.

A belated “Rabbit Rabbit” on this 2nd day of November, friends. Jens sent an email last night informing us that while examining the “thousands of records, tapes, and movies” at a friend’s house, and risking dusty or chapped hands, he stumbled upon one of the rarest Secretly Canadian gems.

Here We Go Magic: Unrivaled Excellence in Family Portraits, since 2010. Really, though, that’s a pretty great family photo. It was taken during the shoot of their new video for “Collector” which you can (and should) watch below.
After each and every record, Jens Lekman found himself a day job and swore to never return to music again. But oh how the river longs for the sea. The last two years has seen Jens collaborating with Tracey Thorn and Drew Barrymore as well as touring and finishing up new songs. And now Jens is ready to share those songs with the world. More
Remember the beginning of Ghostbusters II? After a few lawsuits and restraining orders the front page headlines, Larry King interviews, and Dana had all but disappeared. Instead, Venkman hosts a lame TV show while Ray & Winston play birthday parties to make ends meet. The new video for “Light Of Love” by Music Go Music is pretty much like that (sans Vigo). More
In order to create a live reproduction of the grandiose recordings of his upcoming record, Saint Bartlett, Mr. Jurado enlisted eight musicians from Seattle band Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground to join him on tour as The Saint Bartlett Band. The resulting concerts will be unlike anything Damien Jurado fans have seen before – the songs done justice with an orchestra adding violin, cello, tube, french horn and keys. More
