ALBUM RELEASE // Anand Wilder And Maxwell Kardon ‘Break Line The Musical’ Out Now In North America

Break Line The Musical is a new project from Anand Wilder, (Yeasayer co-founder, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist) that he created with Maxwell Kardon and a community of friends. The new album harkens back to rock concept albums of the early 70′s with this following the classic arc of lost love, betrayal, and pride.

Get the new album via iTunes, Amazon, SC Distribution, and from your local record store.

This record has been in the works since 2008 when Anand and Maxwell put together a band with Ira Wolf Tuton (Yeasayer) on bass and Christopher Powell (Man Man) on drums. Britt Myers (Charlift, Yeasayer, Passing Strange) then assisted with recording while they stayed up late experimenting with sounds and arrangements. Also included on the notable roster is Austin Fisher (Suckers), Haley Dekle (Dirty Projectors), James Richardson (MGMT), Chris Keating (Yeasayer), Ryan Kattner (Man Man), and Aku Orraca-Tetteh (Dragons of Zynth).

Praise from the press:

“‘Wedding Day’ … unfolds via a series of playground field recordings, bird sounds and backwards-masked tones before forging ahead as a paisley-print tapestry of flute toots, guitar strums and triangle taps.”

- Exclaim!

“A slow waltzing bit of jazz (strummy guitars, staccato horns) instantly builds in emotion and intensity, reach the epic and churning levels normally associated with ’70s arena rock. Assisting the pair is MGMT’s own James Richardson, who stokes the musical flames with a truly sweltering guitar solo.”

Consequence of Sound

“The retro folk-styled “Wedding Day” seemed to match the rural 1950s-set plot, which they described as a labor conflict in a Pennsylvania coal town. But the latest single “I’m to Blame” has thrown our pastoral assumptions totally out of balance — but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. “
