ANTONY Preps Aeon/Crazy in Love 7-inch for Aug. 4 release, First 200 Pre-orders Will Receive Antony-curated Zoetrope: All Story

Antony and the Johnsons will release the “Aeon”/”Crazy in Love” 7″ single on August 4th. “Aeon” is one of the highlights of the critical and commercial smash album “The Crying Light” which debuted at #1 on the European chart. The band gave “Aeon” its television debut earlier this year on The Late Show with David Letterman. And Antony and the Johnsons’ earnest and impassioned cover of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love”, a long time live favorite, is being released officially for the first time.

The first 200 pre-orders the 7” of “Aeon” will receive a copy of the recent issue of Zoetrope: All Story, which features the full art direction of Antony. Zoetrope is Francis Ford Coppola’s quarterly magazine devoted to the best new short-fiction and one-act plays.

The band is currently on a European leg of their world tour. The summer shows see them playing with some of the most esteemed symphonies in Europe in prestigious venues including La Carre in Amsterdam, Manchester Opera House, and the Grand Theatre Romain de Fouviere in Lyon. MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC CO. Preps Exclusive Record Store Day 7-inch, Tours West Coast With The Avett Brothers

Quite often, times of dormancy only seem so to those of us on the outside. The wheels never really stop turning. Such is the case for MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC Co., which has a string of items lined up over the next months, including its first official release since 2007′s Sojourner box set.

First for the band is an exclusive 7″ titled It’s Made Me Cry, which will be available first on April 18 as part of Record Store Day, an international event celebrating independently-owned record stores. Side A of the 7″ features a tuplet of songs recorded over a weekend in October 2008 at Bloomington’s Russian Recording. The songs serve as a lesson in the power of brevity – each a flaming arrow to the heart of some heavy emotions. Side B of It’s Made Me Cry is the moody, instrumental “Protection Spell,” recorded at Russian Recordings almost exactly a year prior to the other songs and featuring late bassist Evan Farrell. The band’s proceeds from the 7″ will benefit The Evan Farrell Memorial Fund.

A list of businesses participating in Record Store Day can be found HERE.

It’s Made Me Cry will also be available digitally worldwide on May 19.

In May, Magnolia Electric Co. will tour the western U.S., sharing a string of West Coast dates with North Carolina’s The Avett Brothers, who are confessed fans of Magnolia Electric Co. Scott Avett was recently quoted in American Songwriter singing the praises of the band: “Shit, man, that Magnolia (Electric) Co. EP a few years ago moved me, and most of the world hasn’t heard it. That’s ridiculous. But I know those things happen.”

May will also bring a Magnolia Electric Co. appearance at Spain’s Primavera Sound Festival.
