LSTN: Yeasayer’s ‘Fragrant World’ on NPR’s First Listen, Plus New Remix of Gotye’s “Eyes Wide Open” at Rolling Stone

Two weeks ago, Yeasayer sent fans in a frenzy with their album scavenger hunt. Unleashing videos on various sites throughout the day, fans could listen to Fragrant World only by locating each vignette. For all those who missed out on the new album during the hunt, here’s your second chance. It’s streaming throughout the week at NPR’s First Listen. Out August 21, Fragrant World is available to pre-order at SC Distribution.

Stream Fragrant World at First Listen.

Currently on the US leg of their tour, Yeasayer will soon travel to Europe for a string of shows. Dates include FYF Festival and yes, it’s true – Yeasayer is in fact playing the Coachella Cruise alongside Father John Misty, Hot Chip, Warpaint and more. See all tour dates HERE.

Yeasayer rework Gotye’s “Eyes Wide Open” for his upcoming remix EP. Listen exclusively at Rolling Stone.

“…it can be hard to tell where organic sounds end and electronic wizardry begins – a fitting mystery for a band so preoccupied with humanity’s ever-shifting place in the modern world. From the opening seconds of “Fingers Never Bleed” on, its worldview is fully realized, as a stormily off-kilter arrangement induces an immediate sense of woozy foreboding. Even singer Chris Keating doesn’t quite sound of this world: He might channel David Byrne here and there, but he elsewhere explores a mode of expression that can seem animalistic, even alien.”Stephen Thompson, NPR

THE JACOBITES’ Dave Kusworth Releases Album On Sunthunder Records

Dave Kusworth, one-half of THE JACOBITES and long-time NIKKI SUDDEN collaborator, has released a collection of career-spanning rarities, demos and outtakes curated by the artist himself on Sunthunder Records.

From the good folks at Sunthunder: “Some people change, and some others never do. Dave Kusworth is one of the
last ones. Always faithful to his roots along a career of more than 30 years, he still lives by and for rock’n'roll. He began with T.V. Eye in 1977, formed The Hawks in 1979, and became a member of The Dogs D’Amour in 1983. In 1984 he took the partnership of Nikki Sudden in The Jacobites and in 1987 he formed his own band The Bounty Hunters. Sunthunder Records is proud to announce the release of “Tambourine girl”, his last work. A 12 tracks digipack compilating some rarities, demos and outtakes by the Bounty Hunters and his solo career with The Tenderhooks, collected by Dave himself. Don’t miss your chance to get this piece of history!”

The album can be purchased at the Sunthunder Web site, website www.sunthunder.net or at the label’s myspace
