Yeasayer on BBC’s “Later Live with Jools Holland”

Yeasayer made their BBC TV debut back in 2008, and this week they returned to “Later Live with Jools Holland.” Here they are playing “Ambling Alp,” which aired on the show Tuesday night. I think the fresh flowers on the keyboard are a nice touch!

Yeasayer are on tour in Europe through July. See the list of dates below.

A Beautiful Cover of “Ambling Alp” – with strings!

Cobra Den Invitational: Wakey!Wakey! – Ambling Alp (Yeasayer) from Goddamn Cobras Collective on Vimeo.

Watch above as Wakey!Wakey! covers Yeasayer’s “Ambling Alp,” swapping out synths for violins. The cover is the first in a series of videos by Brooklyn’s Goddamn Cobras Collective, where the art collective calls on their favorite people to reinterpret their favorite things. We love it!

Yeasayer’s ODD BLOOD Available for Pre-Order, Comes With Instant Download

The day has finally come! Today you can pre-order YEASAYER’s highly-anticipated ODD BLOOD on CD or LP. And while you’re waiting for your purchase to arrive at your doorstep, enjoy an MP3 download of the record that you can enjoy right away.

Pre-order ODD BLOOD HERE.

If 2007′s All Hour Cymbals was Yeasayer’s attempt at global and ambient cultural mash-up then ODD BLOOD takes place in an off-world colony sometime after the Singularity. Glimmering reverb haze is eschewed and replaced by a cavalcade of disorienting pitch effects and flickering ectoplasmic wisps. Instead of layered vocal harmonies the processed vocals congeal into blots and blobs of otherworldly chatter. Many organic elements are left behind and replaced by sounds and rhythms that inspire the body as much as the mind. At times Yeasayer sound as if they would be at home playing live in scene from Blade Runner or inside one of Oscar Neimeyer’s concrete modernist temples from the 1960s. YEASAYER Releases “Ambling Alp” Single

As we announced earlier this week, Secretly Canadian will release YEASAYER’S much-anticipated sophomore album ODD BLOOD in February of 2010. However, you won’t have to wait that long to have a first listen to the band’s new material. “Ambling Alp,” the first single off the record is available for free download today at Yeasayer’s website HERE and will be released digitally and on limited edition 12″ vinyl November 3. The full “Ambling Alp” single features remixes by Memory Tapes and DJ/rupture, with the vinyl packaged in a space age metallic sleeve. “Ambling Alp” is Yeasayer’s first new recording since their acclaimed contribution “Tightrope” on the Dark Was The Night benefit compilation released earlier this year.
