Get Bobb Trimble’s Lost 1983 LP ‘The Crippled Dog Band’

Bobb Trimble’s third album, The Crippled Dog Band, is now available for the first time as CD/LP/digital download/cassette from Yoga Records. Recorded in 1983 with a Worcester, MA group of teenage boys and named after a local three-legged dog, the album has been lost for nearly three decades since Bobb dumped the 500-count LP pressing into an office park dumpster.

All of this would be nothing more than a typically weird footnote to the Bobb Trimble legend, except for the fact that The Crippled Dog Band is very different from, but every bit as remarkable and brilliant as Iron Curtain Innocence and Harvest Of Dreams. Having proved himself, if only to himself, this is where Bobb stops chasing glass menagerie fantasies of perfection, tempers the dread of his first two records, and reconnects with his DIY roots. This unique collaboration between “the greatest psychedelic musician of the 80s” and his scrappy acolytes yields pure rock and roll and the result is raw, crazy, and infectiously exciting.

SC162-581x581

We just received a fantastic recording of Bobb Trimble performing live in New York City last year. Bobb has made only a handful of live appearances since we reissued his two cult classics Iron Curtain Innocence and Harvest of Dreams back in 2007, but only now has a quality recording of one of these performances emerged. Check out this fantastic recording of Bobb performing “Armour of the Shroud” a stand-out track from Harvest of Dreams.

Rare Performances by Bobb Trimble This Fall

SC162

This fall the elusive Bobb Trimble will make two rare live performances in his home state of Massachusetts. For years, Bobb Trimble’s two albums, Iron Curtain Innocence, and Harvest of Dreams were the stuff legends were made of, psych-rock records so rare that even Keyser Soze would have a hard time finding one. We here at Secretly Canadian were lucky enough to reissue these highly sought after albums in 2007. Now you have an opportunity to see Bobb Trimble live. Trimble will perform at the Homegrown II Festival in Boston on October 15, along with Marissa Nadler, Ty Segall, Major Stars and others. Then, November 13 in Somerville, MA Trimble will perform at the Deep Heaven 2 Festival. The December Sound, Screen Vinyl Image, and The Vandelles will also be appearing.

For more on Bobb Trimble check out his songs “Premonitions– The Fantasy” and “One Mile From Heaven (short version).” You can find more info on his albums HERE. And you can also read an interview with Trimble with Paste Magazine HERE.

BOBB TRIMBLE acetate goes for $1975 on eBay

A recent eBay auction for BOBB TRIMBLE’s “One Mile From Heaven” b/w “Killed by the Hands of an Unknown Rock Star” 7″ acetate has earned the reclusive folkster almost $2000. The acetate, Bobb’s first release from 1978, was donated by an old high school friend of Bobb’s, and all of the proceeds will go to his retirement fund.

BOBB TRIMBLE & THE CRIPPLED DOG BAND Galilean Boy Video Unearthed (Live in Worcester, MA, 1983)

This past November, more than a handful of new fans fell in love with the once forgotten gems “Iron Curtain Innocence” and “Harvest of Dreams” painstakingly crafted by the one and only Bobb Trimble. Secretly Canadian now proudly presents to you an unearthed video from 1983, at the Worcester Rock and Roll Party. Bobb is backed by his cadre – The Crippled Dog Band – who bravely share their magic with the world. The live version of Galilean Boy found here is the same as the version found on Harvest of Dreams, and the video, bunny ears and all, is a retreat into the oft-concealed otherworldly goings-on in Bob Trimble’s faintly-lit universe. Enjoy.
