WATCH: Damien Jurado Live at WBEZ, On Tour Now

Damien Jurado returned to Chicago’s WBEZ a few days ago for an in-studio performance before playing a SOLD OUT show at Schuba’s later that night! You might have heard Damien on the show back in 2010, playing in support of Saint Bartlett. He chats it up with host Andrew Gill and plays a few songs as well. You can download the entire show HERE and watch him play “Working Titles” and “Museum of Flight,” both off of 2012’s Maraqopa, above.

Damien is currently on tour. He’ll play Somerville tonight and ANOTHER SOLD OUT show at the Mercury Lounge on Saturday! When previewing the show, The New York Times writes, “A snarling hard-core punk turned diligently bleeding heart, Mr. Jurado is a folk singer-songwriter with rare delicacy and resilience. His 10th studio album, Maraqopa (Secretly Canadian), is his most intriguing yet: acidly psychedelic and uneasily introspective, it even dips a toe into lush Wall of Sound pop (“Reel to Reel”).” Check all tour dates HERE.

The War on Drugs’ Adam Granduciel drops by The Key

Earlier this month, The War on Drugs dropped by WXPN to do a live, Free at Noon performance broadcast to fans and listeners everywhere. What you might’ve missed, though, is that Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel also did a solo acoustic set for XPN’s local music site, The Key.

The session, which strips down “Brothers,” “Best Night,” and “Black Water Falls,” is a gorgeous, intimate reimagination of these songs, and proof that “solo acoustic” needn’t be a four letter word. Host John Vettese describes, “all due respect to bandmates and sonic co-conspirators Dave Hartley, Robbie Bennett, and Steven Urgo, you can knock the fancy autidory architecture away and the music holds up.”
