Antony and the Johnsons Debut New Video for “Cut The World”

Antony and the Johnsons share their brand new video for “Cut the World.” Premiering today on Pitchfork, it’s the previously unreleased title-track to the forthcoming live album. Directed by Nabil and shot in London, it’s a breathtaking piece of work with a statement. The cinematic short stars Willem Dafoe, who many of you will recognize from the Spider-Man triology and Carice Van Houten from “Game of Thrones” and Valkyrie. Performance artist Marina Ambramovic also appears in the video. Note – the short may not be suitable for all viewers. Watch above.

Antony originally wrote “Cut The World” for the opera The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic. A screening of the video will take place on August 11 at the Southbank Centre in London for the Antony-curated Meltdown Festival.

The new record comes out tomorrow, August 7. You can still pre-order Cut The World HERE.

Antony & the Johnsons Debut Swanlights Video, Prep Swanlights 10-inch Vinyl EP for Record Store Day Release

Today Antony and the Johnsons premiered a new video for “Swanlights,” directed by Antony’s sister Sara Hegarty. The video contains excerpts from the forthcoming film The Last Hymn featuring Sierra Paris. Antony has described the concept of swanlights as “the reflection of light on the surface of the water at night and the moment when a spirit jumps out of a body and turns into a violet ghost.”

In other Antony news, electronic music duo Matmos has joined the team for the forthcoming production of “The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic” which includes Antony, Marina Abramovic, Willem Dafoe, and Robert Wilson. The show features scenes from Abramovic’s life and career, from her Serbian childhood to her work as a performance artist. It also features original and traditional music, including songs written and performed by Antony.

Look for Antony and the Johnsons’ Swanlights EP on 10-inch vinyl for Record Store Day April 16. The EP includes a remix of the title track by Oneohtrix Point Never as well as two exclusive b-sides.
