Magnolia Electric Co. & Damien Jurado Contribute Live Tracks to Record Store Day LP

35_ithappeneda

All of us here at Secretly Canadian have been eagerly anticipating Record Store Day for weeks now, and this year we’re excited to have Magnolia Electric Co. and Damien Jurado appear on a special LP formulated in heart of southern Indiana. Both artists contributed tracks to It Happened Here, a Record Store Day exclusive vinyl LP + 7″ compilation of live and exclusive studio recordings made in Bloomington, IN in 2009.

A live take of Magnolia Electric Co.’s “Rider. Shadow. Wolf.,” performed July 10, 2009 at local recording studio Russian Recording appears on the LP, along with Damien’s “Kansas City,” performed April 11, 2009 at the same location.

This LP + 7″ is a collaboration between three Bloomington enterprises who represent three distinct spheres of the music world: Russian Recording (recording studio), St. Ives (Secretly Canadian’s boutique record label) and Landlocked Music (retail store). Together they give you not just a snapshot of the Indiana scene but also the influence of the times. Each LP + 7″ possesses lovingly handmade artwork from Woodruff & Sons and In Case of Emergency Press and is strictly limited to a one-time pressing of 750 copies. A digital download of the tracks comes with purchase. Check out the full track listing after the jump.
