LSTN // Nightlands Shares “Nico” Track – Three Versions Available

Nightlands follows up release week by sharing the original, instrumental and vocal-only versions of “Nico,” a track off the recently released Oak Island. Premiering at ArtInfo, the song is one of the more experimental ventures off the record. You can stream all three versions above! While listening, head over to ArtInfo to read the new interview with the ever so eloquent Dave Hartley.

“I kept trying that until I could know exactly what speed to change the tape machine to, to make my voice warped. So when it sounds like I’m singing higher and higher and higher, the tape is slowing more and more. I got pretty experimental with the tape machine.” – Dave Hartley on “Nico”

See Nightlands live! Dave takes the stage at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory on February 12! Then it is off to tour the rest of the States in March! Dates HERE!

“The pairing of these beautifully harmonized vocals with drum beats that go back and forth between a lazy laid back afternoon day and the busy decent into night life give Oak Island a sense of late 1970s summer touched with golden sunlight.”The Vinyl District

“Oak Island is both an untamed beast and an inviting fantasy world worth inhabiting.”eMusic

“So it goes on Oak Island, 35 minutes of romantic and robotic soft rock, a crush mixtape for the Uncanny Valley….it’s a fantastic accompaniment for winter: so much of the digitally processed and pitch-shifted guitar shimmers like tinsel, the percussion jingles, nylon strings, and dulcimers contribute to a mix that’s thick and boozy as eggnog.”PITCHFORK
