This record has been in the works since 2008 when Anand and Maxwell put together a band with Ira Wolf Tuton (Yeasayer) on bass and Christopher Powell (Man Man) on drums. Britt Myers (Charlift, Yeasayer, Passing Strange) then assisted with recording while they stayed up late experimenting with sounds and arrangements. Also included on the notable roster is Austin Fisher (Suckers), Haley Dekle (Dirty Projectors), James Richardson (MGMT), Chris Keating (Yeasayer), Ryan Kattner (Man Man), and Aku Orraca-Tetteh (Dragons of Zynth).

ALBUM ANNOUNCE // Electric Youth Announce New Album ‘Innerworld’ Out September 30th US / 29th EU

If you missed it a few weeks ago we welcomed Toronto based duo of of Bronwyn Griffin and Austin Garrick, known as Electric Youth, to the SC family. We also premiered the video for “Innocence” that you can watch on YouTube / Vevo. Today the group reveals the details on their SC album debut Innerworld out September 30th / 29th in the EU.

Pre-order it directly via SC Distribution, iTunes, Amazon, and your local record store.

The new album came together between the duo’s home studio in Los Angeles, where all the vocals were laid down, and their Toronto studio, where Austin’s vintage synth collection was used to assemble more than have of the beautiful analog sounds on the new record. In LA, the band constantly projected old films while recording, all having influences on different songs from the release. Heavenly Creatures by Peter Jackson inspired “Runaway” directly while other films like Metropolis, City of God, After Hours, and Videodrome had profound effects on the environment and feel of the album.

Electric Youth will play the Leeds Festival and Reading Festival this summer before touring extensively this fall. More dates will be announced soon.
