Tig Notaro Joins Secretly Canadian, “Good One” Out August 2nd!

On August 2nd, Secretly Canadian is proud to release the debut album by Tig Notaro entitled Good One. This will be Secretly Canadian’s first comedy release. Good One contains well crafted and ridiculous material touching on subjects such as Tig’s family tree, Mexican hotel door signs, birthing a dinosaur, and how 90s pop singer Taylor Dayne is the easiest person in the world to run into, amongst other things. A deluxe version of the album contains the long anticipated DVD of Have Tig At Your Party, the human equivalent to the “burning log” DVDs.

Tig has had recurring roles on several TV Shows. Most notably, she played ‘Officer Tig’ on Comedy Central’s The Sarah Silverman Program and was a Series Regular on ABC’s In the Motherhood, opposite Cheryl Hines and Megan Mullally. Most recently, Tig Guest Starred on NBC’s Community and is slated to appear on HBO’s animated series, The Life and Times of Tim. She is currently working with Sarah Silverman on a TV adaptation of her popular regular show at LA’s Largo Theater, Tig Has Friends. Tig’s new weekly podcast Professor Blastoff, through The Earwolf Network, premiered at #1 on iTunes May 2nd, 2011. You can check out the first episode HERE.

Tig has performed stand-up on her own half hour special on Comedy Central, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and The Benson Interruption. Tig appears regularly at some of the most reputable comedy and music festivals such as SXSW, Montreal Just For Laughs, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sketchfest and Bumbershoot. And this summer Tig will be performing at Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and The Sled Island Festival. Check out a full list of live dates on Tig’s site. Welcome: Painted Palms! EP Out Soon & On Tour With of Montreal!

Reese Donohue & Chris Prudhomme

Cousins Reese Donohue and Christopher Prudhomme are the creative force behind Painted Palms — a duo in the studio that expands to a five-piece band for live shows. The two grew up together on the same block in Lafayette, Louisiana. After Donohue moved to the Bay Area in California for school, they spent several years exchanging music they had made by themselves — hypnotic sound experiments and song fragments. However, it wasn’t until they both returned home for the winter break in 2009, that they began playing music together.

Canopy is the debut EP from duo Painted Palms. With its echoes of Brill Building pop, buoyant electronics, and encompassing textural experimentation, the EP exudes something ebullient as well as meditative. Canopy is a modern psych-pop collage with an affinity for fluidity and the exotic.

LISTEN TO “ALL OF US” HERE.

Painted Palms were hand picked by of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes to open for them on their North American tour, starting this Friday. You can find the full list of dates HERE.

Canopy will be released digitally on April 26th and physically on June 21st.
