Stream Nite Jewel’s New Album Now, Out Officially March 6th

Gorilla vs. Bear premiered Nite Jewel’s new album, One Second of Love, earlier this morning. If you haven’t given it a proper listen yet, do so above. Straying from the lo-fi nature of her previous releases, Ramona steps up the production and people have been quick to notice. It’s easily danced to with funk undertones that see you through to the end. Stereogum says, “Lose yourself in the flickering prettiness.” We agree; don’t be afraid to get up and move to this one.

Out on March 6th, One Second of Love is available for pre-order HERE. We still have a few bundles left featuring the dreamy “lovers frost” colored vinyl. Don’t wait to get your copy-available exclusively through pre-order!

Yeasayer’s Anand Wilder Takes Part in NYC Dosa Hunt!

DOSA HUNT Trailer from amrit singh on Vimeo.

Check this out. Yeasayer’s Anand Wilder takes part in what is being called “the greatest hunt for Indian food in NYC ever committed to film.” In Dosa Hunt, Anand and friends set out to fill their tummies in a New York City food endeavor. You’ll notice some other indie-music familiars: Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij, Das Racist’s Ashok Kondabolu and Himanshu Suri, Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo, Stereogum‘s Amrit Singh, and Vijay Iyer from the Vijay Iyer Trio all pile in a van to scour the city with no dosa left untouched (or uneaten?). Watch trailer above and prepare to be hungry!

Antony Hegarty Posts Short Essay on CocoRosie to Stereogum

antonyphoto1

“I have concluded that the reception of CocoRosie in the US reflects the denial of a greater feminist issue, an ecological issue, a racial issue, a spiritual issue. If we cannot face that our collective brokenness in these areas is the rockbed of our crisis as a virulent species, then we will continue in our blindness to dismiss our American art revolutionaries who are out in the field, working through exactly these issues.” – Antony Hegarty

Yesterday a great post went up at Stereogum that included an essay by Antony about CocoRosie.  You can read the entire essay, as well as entries by Yoko Ono, Nico Muhly and Annie Clark.  A few of the comments created a productive discourse about CocoRosie’s art, and the entries are beautifully-written and thought provoking.

Check out CocoRosie’s album, Grey Oceans, at Sub Pop.
