Exitmusic’s “Passage” Streaming in Full on NPR’s First Listen

Exitmusic’s Passage is set for release on Tuesday, May 22nd, but you can stream the album in its entirety now at NPR’s “First Listen.” During this year’s SXSW, Robin Hilton took notice of the husband-and-wife duo, who recently expanded their live lineup to include Nicholas Shelestak and Dru Prentiss. A champion for the group since, Hilton writes,“Simple, spare beats hold chaotic soundscapes together while delicate melodies tell troubled tales. The songs are gorgeous and gruesome, soaring and sad, glittering dreams and haunting nightmares…But even (or perhaps especially) in its bleakest moments, Passage is one the most memorable and absorbing records you’ll hear in 2012.

STREAM PASSAGE NOW.

The album is available for pre-order; find your copy HERE. You can also purchase “The Night,” off the forthcoming album, at iTunes.

Urban Outfitters Premieres the Video for The War on Drugs’ “Come To The City”

The War on Drugs – “Come to the City” (Official Music Video) from Urban Outfitters on Vimeo.

Today, Urban Outfitters premiered the video for The War on Drugs’ charging, triumphant “Come to the City” from the band’s excellent forthcoming sophomore album Slave Ambient. It follows a gang of Los Angelenas doing some wilding on the outskirts of LA. The video was produced by Urban Outfitters and directed by Peter J. Brant. Video Fun Fact: One of the women who appears in the video is a former resident of our hometown, Bloomington, Ind.

Today through the release of Slave Ambient, UO will also be exclusively hosting a stream of the entire album. You can hear why UK’s Uncut, in a five-star review of the album, said: “Granduciel’s burgeoning compositional skills and his vast attention to intricately wrought sonic structures make Slave Ambient rich with things money alone can’t buy — wit, imagination, ambition, excitement, that kind of thing. It’s a thrill. Something’s happening wherever you turn on tracks that are dense with detail and brilliant accumulations of incident, but never overwrought or too busy, sheer grace their common link.”
