WATCH: New Video for Yeasayer’s “Longevity”

Do you have a secret wish to see what the Yeasayer dudes would look like as old men, skeletons even? Well, that’s kinda weird, but here’s your wish come true. Premiering at Vevo, Yeasayer’s new “Longevity” video features Anand, Chris, Ira and Cale doing what they do best – performing, with a surprising twist thrown in. Watch above to see what happens.

Yeasayer are currently on tour, zipping around North America to bring you the awesome experience that is their live show. Have you heard about or seen their new Creators Project-designed crystalline light and stage environment? It’s pretty spectacular. Paste caught them with the new set-up while they were in Chicago; check out the photos HERE. Tour dates and ticket links HERE.

Are you in Portland, OR? Lucky duck. We’re giving away a pair of tickets to see Yeasayer and recent Sub Pop signee Daughn Gibson live tomorrow (Friday, August 31st) at the Crystal Ballroom –> contest details.

Lastly, get your hands on the new Yeasayer record. Fragrant World is still available on limited-edition colored vinyl at SC Distribution.

Antony Hegarty Posts Short Essay on CocoRosie to Stereogum

antonyphoto1

“I have concluded that the reception of CocoRosie in the US reflects the denial of a greater feminist issue, an ecological issue, a racial issue, a spiritual issue. If we cannot face that our collective brokenness in these areas is the rockbed of our crisis as a virulent species, then we will continue in our blindness to dismiss our American art revolutionaries who are out in the field, working through exactly these issues.” – Antony Hegarty

Yesterday a great post went up at Stereogum that included an essay by Antony about CocoRosie.  You can read the entire essay, as well as entries by Yoko Ono, Nico Muhly and Annie Clark.  A few of the comments created a productive discourse about CocoRosie’s art, and the entries are beautifully-written and thought provoking.

Check out CocoRosie’s album, Grey Oceans, at Sub Pop.
