RECORD STORE DAY // Woman’s Hour Release ‘Dancing in the Dark’ 12″ On Record Store Day Via Best Fit Recordings

Woman’s Hour are happy to announce the official release of their much loved cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing in the Dark’ on Record Store Day! For some, this inimitable rendition will have been the first time they were introduced to the band’s minimalist, emotionally charged sound before the release of their critically acclaimed debut Conversations last year. Since then, the track has become a fan favorite and staple on their live set – it seems only right that track is released from the impalpability of the internet, to a tangible 12″ on a day that honors physical music. Listen to lead track “Dancing in the Darkabove or on SoundCloud.

London based label Best Fit Recordings will be releasing 500 copies of the 12″ on April 18, 2015. The 12″ will also feature previously unreleased tracks “Sea of Silence” and “The Shipping Forecast”.

Best Fit Recording’s editorial side The Line of Best Fit gave Conversations 10/10 and named it as their debut album of 2014. You can purchase your copy on Record Store Day from the outlets listed below and many more:

WATCH // Woman’s Hour Share “Devotion” Video Dir. By Weronika Tofilska Via Dazed

Woman’s Hour return in 2015 with amnother beautiful black and white, minimalistic video for the song “Devotion” off their serene SC debut album Conversations out last year. You can watch the twin filled video directed by Weronika Tofilska above or here on Youtube / Dazed.

Here’s Fiona Burgess with more behind the video:
‘We talked a lot about the idea of closeness, trust and dependency, and felt that using siblings was the most natural way of communicating this…as well as looking identical, the twins in our video have a loyalty to each other that is so constant throughout their lives that it’s unlike any other relationship. We were interested in how the visuals could compliment this theme, using minimal props and staging in order to make the focus on the subjects. They are almost like still life portraits, their movements are subtle so that the viewers focus is on the tinniest movements… it’s often the smallest gestures that speak volumes”

WATCH // Suuns Share ‘Sunspot’ Video Dir. By Ben Shemie, Tour UK And Europe In September + October

Celebrating newly announced UK + European tour dates this fall, SUUNS have shared a short film featuring ‘Sunspot’ from their 2013 release Images du Futur. Premiering via The Quietus and directed by band frontman Ben Shemie, the 30 minute music video delves into the ideas of repetition and absolution of sin. Watch the video above or here on Youtube.

For more on the story behind the new video, Ben explains below:

“This video is based around hands. Dirtying ones hands, blood on the hands, and cleansing ones hands of sin are the themes that drive the imagery in this video. I saw Richard Serra’s ‘Hand Catching Lead’ video at the Metropolitan museum in NY a few years ago. Despite all the monumental works, this small raw video stuck with me the most. Something about the simplicity about looking at the artist’s own hands, the realness was very intense. It is Serra’s work that provides the visual inspiration behind this video.

“The compulsion of washing ones hands – absolution of sin – is very powerful. This compulsive behavior, regardless of the context, can relate to all of us. This one-take sequence that closes the video is not only physically demanding, but also very challenging to the viewer. Repetition, the common thread of the droney nature of Suuns’ music, plays tricks on our sense of time and drives the fanatical and compulsive themes of the video to the edge of our tolerance.”

If you haven’t already, pick up their Polaris Prize nominated album from last year, Images Du Futur via your local record store, iTunes, Amazon, and SC Distribution.
