Windsor For The Derby Announce “Against Love,” Share MP3 and Plot Tour

windsorlive1In a day and age when many a band must carefully plot an air of mystery around themselves, it is with much grace that Philadelphia-Austin sonic craftsmen Windsor for the Derby have maintained their particular cult mystique over eight albums of subtle, biting and exploratory post-rock. We’re proud to announce the latest from WFTD, Against Love, arriving June 22 on Secretly Canadian (June 21 in the UK).

Read more about the album and the band’s European tour, and listen to the first MP3 after the jump.

WINDSOR FOR THE DERBY Plays First North American Show in Over a Year

WINDSOR FOR THE DERBY hasn’t played in North America all year long, but they will squeeze in one show before 2009 is over. You can catch the band at Austin’s Spider House on December 19.

Windsor For The Derby spent most of August in Europe, and recorded a European Tour EP as a result. If you weren’t able to catch them live this year, at least you can listen to the EP available for download HERE.

Members of WINDSOR FOR THE DERBY, THE WAR ON DRUGS, And BODIES OF WATER Share Some Holiday Joy

This just in! BODIES OF WATER are sharing with us their wonderful rendition of the classic “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” just in time for the Holidays. The song is the closing track to the Hard to Find a Friend holiday comp entitled Peace On Earth Vol. II, which is benefiting the Children of Uganda fund.

Give it a listen HERE.
For more information on the comp, head HERE.

Also in the holiday spirit are The Silver Ages. Here’s the bands back story straight from the reindeers mouth:
“The Silver Ages is a group perhaps unique in the annals of music history: a men’s singing ensemble comprised of members of various rock bands, including WINDSOR FOR THE DERBY, THE WAR ON DRUGS, The Capitol Years, National Eye, Buried Beds, Like Moving Insects, BC Camplight and others. These Philadelphia musicians came together to explore the intersecting worlds of drinking, revelry, and traditional close harmony choral arrangements from the early 20th century. With a repertoire that touches on love, death, booze, weather, virginity (its final moments, anyway) and being lost at sea, the Ages approach their craft with a seriousness that belies their laddish cheer. They aim to court you slow, with the sounds of a vanished era, even though they’re really just a bunch of rock guys.”

The band has offered us their performance of the song “Lo How A Rose Eer Blooming”.
Listen to it HERE.
