Marking his first new music since 2023,  Walsall born,  London based singer,  songwriter,  producer and director Wesley Joseph makes a highly anticipated comeback with new single ‘If Time Could Talk’.

Having taken time away from the spotlight to find his story, choosing to pursue the honesty of his art, ‘If Time Could Talk’ sees Joseph continue to expand his sonic and visual world — one that merges the cinematic and the soulful, the intimate and the universal. It’s a statement of growth from an artist poised to define a generation of visionary storytellers.

Blending atmospheric production with soul-stirring vocals, the track sees Joseph at his most vulnerable and expansive, capturing the surreal melancholy of a fleeting night — that electric, liminal moment between dreaming and waking, memory and motion. In Wesley’s own words: “Ultimately the song is about the pull of a lost connection, desire, regret and romanticising the past – some of the songs I write have a really specific story and others are a feeling dramatised into a scene and “If Time Could Talk” feels more like that – emotional honesty, immediacy and melancholy all wrapped into an elated escape”.

As with all of Joseph’s work, ‘If Time Could Talk’ is as much about sound as it is about feeling. Co-produced by Nicolas Jaar (The Weeknd, Mustafa, FKA Twigs), Harvey Dweller and Tev’n the track’s dreamlike layering and soulful intensity reaffirm his position as a singular voice in contemporary music — one capable of crafting something deeply human from the most ethereal of moods. Wesley further details the creative process: “It started as a much faster dance instrumental but one night – weeks after the session – I slowed it down and found all this space in the music where the feeling and texture became clear – electric, nostalgic, twisted, and aching all at once”

The accompanying self-directed music video, shot in Paris and produced by Stink, sees Joseph expand his universe with striking visual ambition. Shadowy, concrete club spaces and mirrored rooms twist and warp with intensity, the film building towards an infernal fever pitch in its final moments. Textural, surreal and meticulously composed, the video channels Joseph’s background in filmmaking and world-building, balancing stark realism with dreamlike abstraction. The result is an arresting short film that mirrors the track’s emotional arc: reflective, volatile, and ultimately transcendent.

Since his emergence with 2021’s ULTRAMARINE, Joseph has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking new artists. The debut project earned critical acclaim across the music and fashion worlds — from The FADER, GQ, i-D, Pigeons & Planes, Vogue. 2023’s follow-up GLOW only cemented his reputation, hailed as a bold, world-building project that blurred the boundaries between alternative R&B, rap, and soul. Joseph has collaborated with the likes of A.K. Paul, Dave Okumu, Leon Vynehall, Joy Orbison, childhood friend Jorja Smith and Loyle Carner (he appeared on the Mercury Prize shortlisted “hugo” and supported on a sold-out tour through the UK). Beyond this, he has since taken his captivating live show global, having embarked on a headline North American tour and delivered a triumphant sold-out London headline show at KOKO.

Wesley will also return to the stage for an intimate headline show at Hideout on the 21st of January, inviting audiences back into his ever-evolving world.
