Suuns share the official video for latest single, “Look No Further,” taken from their new album, Felt (out now on Secretly Canadian). The video is based on Lorraine Price‘s (“Last Woman Standing,” “Inside These Walls”) footage from Werner Herzog’s workshop in San Antonio de los Banos, Cuba, 2017. It was shot in a small village that used to be a housing development for workers at a textile factory. The kids – all non-professional actors – were prompted to discuss magic, and what arose provokes thoughts about youth, disappointment and mystery. Strangely, it speaks to the song.
Felt is both a continuation and rebirth, the Montreal quartet returning to beloved local facility Breakglass Studios (where they cut their first two albums [Zeroes QC and Images Du Futur] with Jace Lasek of The Besnard Lakes) but this time recording themselves at their own pace, over five fertile sessions spanning several months. A simultaneous stretching out and honing in, mixed to audiophile perfection by St. Vincent producer John Congleton (helmer of 2016’s Hold/Still), who flew up especially from Dallas to deploy his award-winning skills in situ.
Next week, Suuns will kick off their first U.S. headline tour in support of Felt. They’ve partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold goes to support Youth Speaks and their work through arts education, youth development, and civic engagement, to challenge young people to find, develop, publicly present, and apply their voices as creators of societal change. Following the U.S. run, the band will tour Southeast Asia. A full list of dates is below.
