Baby Rose Returns with New Single “Friends Again” Ft. Leon Thomas & Music Video

Undoubtedly one of the decade’s most striking voices, Baby Rose returns with her breathtaking new single “Friends Again” featuring Grammy-winning artist Leon Thomas alongside a companion video via Secretly Canadian following her first Grammy Award win. Rose arrives back in the spotlight following her first Grammy Award for her contribution to Leon’s colossal MUTT that won Best R&B Album.

Marking a powerful new chapter with her first release in two years, “Friends Again” serves as a harmonious union between Rose and Leon that celebrates their combined talents, both uniquely thrilling and perfectly complimentary to each other. Directed by Morian Mikhail, the visual brings to life the deeply palpable complex nature of love rampant with desire, loss and immense yearning and lined with Rose’s fierce vulnerability and authenticity that reveals a new universe of Rose’s creation rooted in her love for analog.

This new chapter carries through Rose’s singular sound with a newly found evolution from a renewed sense of self. With a tone that feels lived-in and timeless, Rose pulls from soul, gospel, jazz, rock and R&B, infused with the spirits of the greats that defined the Muscle Shoals era and pivotal female artists that changed the face of music such as Etta James, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin and more, while grounding her sound firmly in the present. Her music is intimate and cinematic, the kind that lingers long after the last note fades.

The track serves as a striking follow-up to her critically lauded Slow Burn short film and collaborative EP with the visionary jazz ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD of the same name. The release follows a breakout cinematic moment for Rose in A24’s film Materialists, starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. In addition to contributing “I’ll Be Your Mirror” and “That’s All” to the Materialists soundtrack, Rose made a captivating on-screen appearance, further cementing her status as a multi-dimensional talent in the global arena.
