The Secretly Canadian Newsletter

Whitney – the Chicago-based band led by vocalist/drummer Julien Ehrlich and guitarist Max Kakacek – shares a new single/video, “Used To Be Lonely,” from their forthcoming album, Forever Turned Around, out August 30th via Secretly Canadian. It follows the previously released singles, “Valleys (My Love)” and “Giving Up.” “Used To Be Lonely” tackles the blissful confusion that comes from seeing the way things unexpectedly change over time. The accompanying video, directed by Austin Vesely, is Chicago-centric, featuring notable places throughout the city like the Music Box Theatre and Lake Michigan shoreline.

Pre-order Forever Turned Around

Forever Turned Around is an album about partnership — romantic, familial and communal, but most importantly a love in friendship: the bonds between two best friends and creative partners and the joy and stress that comes with it. The album was co-produced by Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Hand Habits) and Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Father John Misty), who produced their much-beloved debut, 2016’s Light Upon The Lake, and features Chicago musicians Lia Kohl and OHMME’s Macie Stewart.

Whitney are in the midst of a European tour. Upon their return to the states, they will embark on a lengthy North American leg, where they’ll play four hometown shows at Thalia Hall. All tickets are on sale now and all dates can be found below.
