Cherry Glazerr – Wasted Nun
Goshen Electric Co. happened both all at once and gradually: an electrifying culmination of Strand of Oak’s Tim Showalter’s nearly two decades-long love affair with Jason Molina’s craft, and just one half-day spent in the recording studio with the members of Magnolia Electric Co. Today, the project shares the official video for single “The Gray Tower.”
The 7-in., featuring “The Gray Tower” b/w “Ring the Bell,” will be released November 2nd via Secretly Canadian. The single captures the eerie dichotomy of two of Molina’s deeper cuts, reimagining “The Gray Tower,” a 2002 single, and “Ring the Bell,” which appeared on both Songs: Ohia‘s Didn’t It Rain (2002) and Magnolia Electric Co.’s Trials & Errors (2005). It’s a tribute to the enduring urgency of Molina’s songwriting.
Better known as Strand of Oaks, Showalter’s reverence of Molina’s music made itself known first in the sprawling, aching centerpiece of 2014’s HEAL, “JM.” Now, Showalter’s turn at the helm of Magnolia Electric Co. (Mike Brenner, Jason Evans Groth, Mikey Kapinus, Mark Rice, Peter Schreiner) comes ahead of the Goshen, In. native’s Memorial Electric Co. European tour.
The digital version of 7-in. will include an extended, nine-minute version of “Ring the Bell.” The band will be selling copies of the record ahead of release on their forthcoming European tour, which kicks off next week.

Secretly Canadian is honored to partner with Chimera Music on releasing Yoko Ono’s musical output from 1968 to 1985. Today, on Yoko Ono’s 86th birthday, Secretly Canadian and Chimera Music announce the latest release in the project: Unfinished Music No. 3: Wedding Album (1969) will be reissued on March 22nd, two days after Ono and Lennon’s 50th wedding anniversary.
Today Cherry Glazer, the Los Angeles based trio led by 22-year-old frontwoman Clementine Creevy, releases their fourth album 'Stuffed & Ready.' 'Stuffed & Ready' follows Cherry Glazerr’s Secretly Canadian debut 'Apocalipstick,' an album that sizzled with Creevy’s confidence, vision and fiercely idiosyncratic personality.
Stella Donnelly shares a new song, “Lunch,” from her debut album Beware of the Dogs, out March 8th on Secretly Canadian. Following biting lead single, “Old Man,” “Lunch” showcases Donnelly’s ability to pinpoint uncomfortable emotional truths in mundane moments. She tackles the life-uprooting nature of being a touring musician with delicately complex instrumentation.
Today, Cherry Glazerr shares a fiery video for “Wasted Nun,” the new single from their forthcoming album Stuffed & Ready, out February 1st via Secretly Canadian. Following lead single “Daddi,” which is still in heavy rotation at Sirius XMU, “Wasted Nun” burns with a vivid intensity, featuring 22-year-old frontwoman Clementine Creevy as a hellish nun surrounded by richly-colored flames and flashing lights.
