Alex Cameron – Miami Memory
Today, Steven A. Clark releases a brand new video for lead single “Feel This Way,” which premiered this morning via High Snobiety. Directed by Ariel Fisher, the video was filmed in Miami and contains dark undertones outlining the subculture of Clark’s hometown. It delves into the same themes explored on his forthcoming album, Where Neon Goes to Die, available September 7th. With one foot in the ’80s pop + R&B that Clark grew up and the other in contemporary club, the album flows in the vein of a Peter Gabriel meets Frank Ocean. It’s a juxtaposition that feels new but familiar, set against the neon glow of Miami as the backdrop.
Over the course of months, Clark and Boys Noize built up eight songs written by Clark (plus two written by his uncle) by bouncing them back and forth over email until the two came together at Boys Noize’s Berlin studio for the final sessions, where they had enough distance from the city at the center of the album to properly capture its essence. You can watch the new video for “Feel This Way” way above, and find Clark’s dates as direct support on the fall Chromeo tour below.
