Antony & the Johnsons Announce Swanlights EP, Play TED Conference

SC233 In the wake of 2010’s Swanlights LP, we’re pleased to announce that Antony and the Johnsons will release the “Swanlights” EP this spring, including a 10″ vinyl version for Record Store Day on April 16. The Swanlights EP includes a remix of the title track by Oneohtrix Point Never as well as two exclusive b-sides. Antony’s sister, Sara Hegarty, directed the “Swanlights” video. Antony has described the concept of swanlights as “the reflection of light on the surface of the water at night and the moment when a spirit jumps out of a body and turns into a violet ghost.”

Antony and the Johnsons have also announced a performance at the TED Conference in Long Beach, CA on March 2. TED is a nonprofit dedicated to spreading ideas and bringing together people in the technology, entertainment and design fields.

Antony Performs “Thank You For Your Love” on Letterman

Antony performed a re-worked version of “Thank You For Your Love” on Letterman last Friday. With new lyrics, the song has become the perfect counter-part to last year’s Another World, and is nothing short of astonishing.

In other news, Antony has taken over as guest editor of Guardian Online this week where you can find an interview with Marina Abramovic, a piece on the ‘two-spirit tradition’ and a boardroom meeting with Editor Tim Jonze. Later this week Antony will feature a phone interview with Bjork, live performances and a slew of other surprises.

Oh, and Swanlights is out this week!

Antony and the Johnsons to Perform at Lincoln Center on Saturday, October 30th

Antony and the Johnsons will play their only North American live show of 2010 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on Saturday, October 30.

They will be performing with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, which will be conducted by Rob Moose. Chiaki Nagano’s film “Mr. O’s Book of the Dead” starring Kazuo Ohno, the final film of an Ohno-starring trilogy, will be featured during the performance.

The performance kicks off Lincoln Center’s first annual White Light Festival. The festival is “focused on music’s transcendent capacity to illuminate our larger interior universe. In this inaugural season, we explore the spiritual dimension of music as manifested in different cultural and musical traditions.”

This will be a really special opportunity to see Antony and the Johnsons not only perform with a chamber orchestra but also see a performance alongside one of Kazuo Ohno’s rare films.  There will also be a post-performance reception called the White Light Lounge for all ticketholders. Tickets will be available at the White Light website here.

Watch New Antony Video for “Thank You For Your Love”

We are so happy to share with you the beautiful and moving new video for Antony and the Johnson’s “Thank You For Your Love.” The video includes Super 8 footage that Antony shot when he first moved to New York in the early 90’s. It’s a step back in time to when we did not know Antony, where we can see where he was and contemplate where his art would go. Artistically it moves forward while simultaneously looking back.

More info on the Thank You for Your Love EP and the upcoming LP Swanlights after the jump.
