Antony and the Johnsons Debut New Video for “Cut The World”

Antony and the Johnsons share their brand new video for “Cut the World.” Premiering today on Pitchfork, it’s the previously unreleased title-track to the forthcoming live album. Directed by Nabil and shot in London, it’s a breathtaking piece of work with a statement. The cinematic short stars Willem Dafoe, who many of you will recognize from the Spider-Man triology and Carice Van Houten from “Game of Thrones” and Valkyrie. Performance artist Marina Ambramovic also appears in the video. Note – the short may not be suitable for all viewers. Watch above.

Antony originally wrote “Cut The World” for the opera The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic. A screening of the video will take place on August 11 at the Southbank Centre in London for the Antony-curated Meltdown Festival.

The new record comes out tomorrow, August 7. You can still pre-order Cut The World HERE.

Antony Curates Meltdown Festival, Talks To Pitchfork

Each year Southbank Centre’s Meltdown Festival is currated by one mercurial artist. This August, that artist will be our very own Antony, lead singer of Antony and the Johnsons.

Antony’s lineup will feature artists he’s collaborated with before, like Charles Atlas and CocoRosie, but will also include artists he’s actively championed and admired through the years, like the Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser and the revolutionary Turkish singer Selda. Check out the full lineup below and this great interview with Antony over at PITCHFORK.

Antony’s Meltdown Lineup:
